After many days of amazing snow fun, Rosa and Patrick decided they needed a day in (plus it was snowing so much outside they could barely see their toes, and they're not exactly tall!)
The day's activities included lots of really super hard sudoku.
Checking their emails and writing to the critters back home.
Going to the supermarket for snacks. Rosa chose the savoury snacks
While Patrick explored the lolly isle.
Then SNACK TIME! They ate just about everything they bought.
And to finish off the day (and distract them from their tummy aches from all the snacks) they watched a movie. All in all it was a very relaxing day.
Patrick and Rosa have had a blast since arriving in Niseko!
They both took to snowboarding like fish to water, so much so that they dared each other to drop off a rather big ledge.
Patrick who was feeling quite confident decided to go first.
It didn't go exactly as he'd hoped, he landed on his head! But he quickly recovered himself and described the experience as similar to landing headfirst into a giant marshmallow. Rosa tried to imagine what that'd be like because as it happens she's never landed headfirst into a giant marshmallow.
Rosa was next to go off the ledge and she landed perfectly! She tried not to show the extent of her excitement because she didn't want Patrick to feel bad.
Next on the 'must do' list of snow activities (kindly written for them by the critters before they left) was make a snowman. Patrick and Rosa decided to make a snowman with a twist - a snow cat.
They were extremely pleased with the snow cat (it might even become this year's Christmas card)!
Later that afternoon while Patrick was telling Rosa all about the history of pom poms on beanies and the role they play in snow fashion, Rosa was planning a snowball attack. She secretly rolled a snowball
Honed in on her target
Then threw the snowball with all her might
And BAM! It hit Patrick right in the face! The secret snowball attack was executed better than she could've hoped for and Rosa could barely contain her laughter. After a few moments of shock and surprise, Patrick also burst out laughing.
Patrick promised he'd get her back for the snowball attack when she least expected it...
After an epic day of aeroplanes, busses, trains and subways, Patrick and Rosa went straight to bed, only to wake up the next day to a beautiful snowy Sapporo!
They quickly got dressed in their winter gear, ready to explore!
They even explored Sapporo by night and were amazed by all the lights!
The next day it was back on a bus, heading for Niseko-Annupuri!
Happy valentines day everyone! These two little critters spent the day packing and preparing for their JAPAN holiday!!! Rosa the raccoon and Patrick the yak are insanely excited (as are Toby and I who they so kindly invited along!).
We leave early tomorrow morning, and as a result any sales through the Big Cartel and Etsy shop will be shipped in a couple of weeks on Monday 4th March. We will also be trading at the next Eveleigh Artisans' Market on the 3rd March.
This morning the critters were extremely pleased to see the sun was shining because they had a big day of ping-hand planned!
For those of you not familiar with ping-hand (the critters only invented ping-hand last week so the chances are you haven't come across it yet), it's basically a cross between handball and pingpong. All you need is a line (if you forget to bring chalk a crack in path works just as well), two pingpong racquets and a pingpong ball.
Leila the giraffe and Rosie the red panda were having a rather vigorous game
when Leila got a little overzealous and hit the ball with all her might, catapulting it down the path.
Seeing as she was the one that hit the ball it was only fair that she get it. As she approached the ball she looked up to see the most handsome creature walking towards it. Blushing a little she kept walking and tried to think of something witty to say.
'I'm Leila and we're playing hand-ping' was all that came out. A pang of embarrassment overcame her momentarily, but the stranger quickly introduced himself as Xavier the zebra and conversation flowed easily from there.
As the two of them walked back towards the others (who were very intrigued as to what was taking Leila so long!), Xavier asked Leila if she would like to take a stroll around the park with him. Leila agreed immediately, saying it was probably someone else's turn at ping-hand anyway.
Leila introduced Xavier to the other critters and explained they would be back in a bit.
Off they went hand in hand.
They had a positively wonderful time and Xavier even picked a flower for Leila! She couldn't believe her luck, Xavier was a true gentleman (and spunk). When their stroll came to an end they exchanged details and promised to see each other again soon.
The minute Leila got home she put the flower in a vase and hoped it would last a really, really long time!
