Just as the critters were preparing to leave for their annual summer getaway they had an unexpected visitor...
Bjorn the adventuring bear! Bjorn had been travelling through Europe when he met Henry the Yeti. Henry told him (after Bjorn had complained about the cold European winter for the fifth time) to visit the Herbert House, because he'd heard they were having an awfully hot summer. Bjorn took his advice and with his impeccable timing arrived just in time to join them on their summer holiday!
The first thing the critters did after reaching their holiday destination was head down to the beach, which upon inspection was everything they dreamed of!
They proceeded to spend the next eight days on the beach, working on their tans (always with sunscreen on of course), and building sand castles. After a while the days started to blend into each other.
Until one day they woke up and decided to explore the nearby lake. They hired a boat and off they went!
It was decided Bjorn should drive the boat as he was the most experienced (his family owned a tinny when he was little).
Then Kevin decided he would explore the lake at close range and go snorkelling. No one else was game because it was rumoured someone had spotted an eel.
Kevin thought he'd try dropping into the water backwards off the boat as he'd seen in the movies. This wasn't as graceful or as practical as he'd hoped but it was very dramatic and everyone enjoyed his performance.
The next big holiday adventure was climbing the hill to sugarloaf point and exploring the lighthouse.
The steep stairs up to the lighthouse left them all a little deflated but they agreed it was worth it for the view.
After a few more days relaxing on the beach it was time to head home. They were sad to leave but also a little excited to be homeward bound (mostly to see how the seedlings were coming along that they had planted before they left).
