Here at the Herbert house I've been getting back into some embroidery. I Bought this heart pattern and other supplies off Maricor/Maricar, an incredibly talented duo! It's been great experimenting with colours and stitches. Then for some more colour fun I attended a watercolour workshop last week. But the majority of my time has been spent with the youngest critter in the Herbert house; making pasta necklaces, bird masks, playdough monsters, running in circles around the couch, hunting for sticks and jumping in puddles.
The critters and their crew are heading off on a holiday (this photo is a little misleading because we're actually heading to the freezing cold)! Our online shop will temporarily be closed, opening again in March. In the meantime you can get all your critter needs at Object Shop, Australian Design Centre, 101-115 William St, Darlinghurst, and Sweets Workshop, 4/58-60 Carlton Cres, Summer Hill. Have en excellent 5 weeks!
Spring is finally here so the critters have decided to come out of hibernation and start getting serious about their first market in almost 2 years!! It's the Big Design Market Sydney! It'll be big (obviously), amazing, fun and inspiring! It's on 25th - 27th November so there's plenty of time to clear your diaries! The critters can't wait to see all your lovely faces again and make new friends. More on this closer to the time but for now they need to get back to prepping. So much to do!!!
I've recently been dabbling in embroidery and here is the result!
I attended a Sweater Letter Workshop a couple of months ago run the amazingly talented embroidery masters Maricor and Maricar. Before you attend you select which letter you would like to embroider and they provide all the materials and teach you the tricks of the trade, then send you off to embroider your heart out at home. I highly recommend you check out their work, it truely is incredible!! And if you feel like getting a bit creative with a needle and thread I recommend checking out their workshops too!
Happy Easter from the critters!!! Alice made herself some bunny ears for the occasion and Edgar and Norris thought they looked so great that they decided to make some too. Everyone agrees they do indeed look terrific!
Here are some action pics of Alice and her BFF. It's been a busy start to the year with the little munchkin's first birthday a couple of weeks ago, our first family holiday in February and learning how to walk! We hope you've all had an excellent start to the year and have a wonderful easter!!
There's nothing quite like a yeti or two (or ten) to keep you warm and entertained in winter. They're fuzzy and give excellent hugs, tell hilarious jokes, and spontaneously break into song when you least expect. What more can you ask for in a friend?! If you would like one of these tremendously awesome friends, you can get them here.
At three months old Ronja has discovered you can never have too many friends!! The critters wholeheartedly agree.
The critters would like to introduce their newest and most special friend, Ronja, who joined the family two weeks ago today!! They're very excited and pleased with her and spend hours just staring at her sleep (an activity she seems quite fond of).
Our online shop is still open for business, however in these early months it could take up to two weeks for your goodies to arrive. If you're in a hurry, MonsterThreads stores are a great place to pick up a critter or two.
Change is in the air at the Herbert House.. Firstly the critters are getting ready to welcome a special new friend into the mix in just 3 short weeks!!! The excitement is building as they wait (a little impatiently) for the stork to arrive.
In the meantime we'll be moving to a new Herbert House to make space for the new friend. The house will be missed but everyone's excited for the change!
Here are a few final photos from the Herbert House as the critters look towards the future!
