Thank you to everyone who stopped by the various markets over the weekend and said hello! The critters and I had a great time. After their big weekend the critters are spending a few days resting before the auditions for their grand performance of Little Red Riding Hood begin. In the meantime, Henry has been taken by the travel bug again and is gallivanting around Europe. Here are some pic he sent.
It's going to be a very busy weekend for the Critters this week! Friday night and Saturday they'll be at the Finders Keepers Market in Melbourne, followed by Eveleigh Artisans' Market in Sydney on Sunday! They'd love it if you dropped by and said hello.
Gina the giraffe awoke this morning with the most brilliant idea! She was going to put on the best theatrical play of the year and it would all start today! She decided she would be the director but she would definitely need an assistant...
So off she went to find her friend Xavier. He would be perfect! After searching the Herbert House she eventually found him watering the garden.
Gina told Xavier all about her theatrical plans and Xavier agreed it was indeed a fabulous idea, and he would be honoured to be assistant director/producer. He asked her if she had decided on a play. Gina said she had a short list but still hadn't settled on one.
They went inside and did some research on the best plays ever written. Gina thought Little Red Riding Hood would be an excellent choice, Xavier agreed but thought Three Billy Goats Gruff would be slightly more excellent.
They were having trouble choosing so they played scissor, paper, rock for the decider. Gina won so they went with Little Red Riding Hood.
Gina and Xavier agreed they'd have to hold auditions so they made some flyers.
They put up a flyer on the fridge in the Herbert House in case some of their friends wanted to audition.
Then headed out down the street, sticky tape and flyers in hand, ready to start postering!
After putting up their first poster they stood back to admire their work. They agreed if they came across this flyer they would definitely want to audition for the play! Then they saw someone approaching and ran and hid in the bushes to see if their poster was indeed as excellent as they thought.
Edgar the wolf was on his midday stroll when he spotted a very colourful flyer on a telegraph pole which immediately drew him in.
'Are you a star' the poster read. Indeed Edgar was definitely a star and thought he'd be rather excellent in a production of Little Red Riding Hood so he took the phone number and continued on his midday stroll.
Gina and Xavier were so excited by the success of their first poster that they quickly ran to put up the next one. Once again they went and hid to observe the passers by.
Olive the alpaca was on her way to meet a friend when she came across a rather perplexing flyer asking her if she'd ever wondered what it's be like to be Brad Pitt. She thought about the question and decided the answer was no, at least not until now. But all of a sudden she was very curious to know what it'd be like to be Brad Pitt! In fact she wouldn't object in the slightest if she happened to become an award winning actor so she took the phone number and went on her way.
After seeing the success of their second poster, Gina and Xavier raced home to wait for the phone to ring.
While Willis and Henry were off on their travels, Ruben, Patrick and Clifford continued their dedicated snow pea growing. Here's a little video they put together!

On this warm and windy Sydney day the critters were busy getting everything ready for Herbert's birthday!
Willis and Fiona made the party hats.
While Gina and Patrick made the cupcakes.
And Henry and Rosa wrapped the present.
Then it was party time! The cup cakes were a big hit (as were the amazing party hats)! Herbert couldn't believe the trouble they'd all gone to. He was feeling very special indeed.
Then it was time for the present. All the critters had put in for the present and stood by nervously, hoping Herbert would like it.
He loved it! Herbert said he'd always wondered what Moomin Trolls eat and now he owned their cookbook and could eat everything they ate!
It was a very successful birthday indeed!
In honour of Herbert's 5th birthday we're having a 20% off sale on everything in our shop! Stock is limited so get in quick! Just enter the promo code BIRTHDAY to receive a discount on your purchase.
After some excellent adventures in Stockholm and surrounding forests, it was time for Willis and Henry to head home to the Herbert House (just in time for Herbert's birthday!). They said farewell to the beautiful city (and slightly less beautiful view from the airport) and promised they'd be back one day...
Two and a half long fights, one storm at Hong Kong airport and nine movies later and they were home!
All the critters were super excited to see Willis and Henry! And after many hugs and welcomes they all sat down with a cup of tea and the travellers regaled the critters with tales of their adventures.
On their last full day in Stockholm, Willis and Henry decided it would be fitting to eat waffles! Lots and lots of waffles! They had long since eaten up the berries they picked in the forest but they had some delicious jam, cream and icing sugar to go with their tasty treat!
After a week of city adventures, Willis and Henry decided it was time to explore the forest.
First on their forest adventure list was pick blueberries!
They also came across some mysterious red berries and even some raspberries!
They picked and picked and picked.
Willis kept checking their loot to watch it grow and fantasize about berry pancakes, waffles with berries and cream, and blueberry souffle.
Then Henry came over and they both assessed their berry picking achievements and compared delicious berry recipe ideas, until they decided it was time for some more exploring.
They headed down a very welcoming wooden path.
Which led them down to a beautiful lake.
Henry decided to put his head in the water, it was after all a rather warm day and the water looked extremely inviting! Willis happily stood back and watched (he has a mild fear of large bodies of water).
Then Henry jumped in! He floated on his back while trying to convince Willis to join him in the water because it was quite incredible and surprisingly not very cold. Willis politely declined but said he was very happy that Henry was enjoying his swim.
Then they sun-baked for a little while so Henry could dry off before they continues their forest adventure.
They'd heard that there was a spring somewhere in the forest where you can collect the cleanest water in the whole of Sweden! So they set off searching and came across the sign.
They found the spring without too many problems and upon tasting the water Willis and Henry agreed it definitely tasted like the cleanest water in Sweden, so they filled up their water bottle and started their walk home.
