Gina and Janey woke up extra early this morning and quietly left the house without anyone noticing.
By the time the critters started realising that Gina and Janey were missing, they were back! And with a Christmas tree no less!
Xavier and Roman immediately ran to get the decorations and the tree-decorating planning begun.
Gina and Esmeralda built little platforms to stand on so they could reach the tree, and the others critters stood by as decorating directors.
To reach even higher Esmeralda had to stand on Janey's head (luckily unicorns don't weigh much because they're mostly made up of magic).
Xavier and Willis stepped in to do the tinsel, by far the funnest part if you ask them.
And Stanley, the exceptional climber and adventurer, climbed the Christmas tree and put the biggest and best star at the top of the tree.
Then they took a step back to assess their work. They all agreed it was finished and that it was an extremely handsome Christmas tree!
The critters tried out some dress-up disguises because you never know when you'll need a good disguise!

Some of you may be wondering what happened to the Theatrical Performance of the Year, this is what happened...
Gina the director came down with the most awful flu! Xavier the assistant director/producer was transformed into diligent nurse and has prescribed lots of bed rest, a positive attitude and raspberry jelly. Xavier has identified the cause of the flu to be stress, too much excitement and germs. Gina is planning a big come back after her flu from hell but has decided with Christmas coming up and Christmas parties to plan, the play will open in early January.
In the meantime, other critters are preparing for markets! Eveleigh Artisans' market next weekend will be the last Sydney market before Christmas! My friend and very talented film maker, Rose Kang, made this awesome short film about Herbert & Friends. Take a look behind the scenes of critter-making!
Henry sent more travel snaps this week! He's once again in San Francisco (clearly one of his favourite destinations).
For the first time, the critters decided to go trick-or-treating!
Patrick the mummy, Janey the witch and Gina the vampire spent a week working on their costumes, and took an hour to get dressed with Janey and Gina helping Patrick the mummy get all wound up. Then they headed out, bags in hand to see what delicious treats they could come by.
As they wondered down the street looking for trick-or-treat friendly houses they discussed what the ideal treat would be. Janey thought baclava would be pretty great but they came to the conclusion it wasn't very likely they'd get any baclava because of its intense stickiness. Second on the list was anything chocolaty, they were pretty confident they'd get something chocolaty.
After an hour of dedicated trick-or-treating the critters returned home with their bags bursting at the seams. They'd also received many compliments on their outfits so they were feeling very pleased indeed.
They poured out the contents of their bags into a big pile and were amazed at the amount of sugary goodness they'd collected. They were going to have some seriously tasty days ahead!
Over the weekend Esmeralda and Roman continued their work on the set design for the production of Little Red Riding Hood. The forest setting was deemed the most important so that was the focus of their day.
They begun by painting the sky of their forest backdrop.
This took quite some time, partly because their paint brushes were rather small and partly because they were very fastidious, making sure this would be an exceptional backdrop!
Then they painted the tree props.
And when the sky of their forest backdrop was dry they painted on the trees.
Then they were finished! Esmeralda and Roman stepped back to admire their work. It was indeed quite excellent!
