It's tradition in the Herbert house to make pepparkakor every Christmas. This year it was up to Patrick, Clifford and Norris to make the dough, ready for tomorrow's baking (the dough has to be refrigerated over night). They decided to use Patrick's great great grandmother's recipe because she was famous for her pepparkakor recipe (some say it's the best in scandinavia, big call I know)!
First up Clifford softened the butter while Patrick read out the instructions.
Norris took the first stirring shift, followed by Patrick. Clifford was quite eager to have a go too, but Patrick promised him there'd be plenty of time for stirring later.
Clifford got to measure up the first lot of spices, then Patrick decided he would do the cinnamon. Patrick didn't realise that the cinnamon lid was loose so there was a bit of an incident of too much cinnamon...
then Patrick lost his balance, fell backwards and...
suddenly Norris was covered in cinnamon!!! Patrick felt terrible and went bright red.
Clifford and Patrick inspected the extent of the damage and decided the colour cinnamon actually suited Norris. They all had a little chuckle.
Patrick helped Norris clean up before they resumed their pepparkakor mission.
This time Clifford got to stir.
And he stirred and stirred until he was pretty sure his arm would fall off (and he started to regret showing any interest in stirring).
Then they rolled up the dough ready for refrigeration, and their peppakakor adventure was at an end for the day. Stay tuned for part 2 of the Pepparkakor adventure!
