SUPER BIG MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM HERBERT AND HIS FRIENDS!!! Here are some photos of the snowy streets of Stockholm my uncle Peter, who happens to be a photographer, sent me. The snow looks amazing!! I really wish I could be there, but instead I'll be embracing summer and hopefully the beach! Add Comment Over the last couple of months Herbert & Friends have made an appearance in a few magazine which I wanted to share with you. First and foremost, super excitingly, FRANKIE MAGAZINE!!! My typewriter sits proudly on page 16 with a lovely little blurb, thanks Frankie! Earlier this month people kept telling me my softies were in The Sydney Morning Herald's, The (Sydney) Magazine and I kept saying they weren't my softies or I would've been told about it. Then someone showed me the image and it was my softies! The image was advertising the recent Finders Keepers Market in Sydney which I was unfortunately not part of this time around, but it was still great to see the critters in the magazine! I also have a mention in the current Bride To Be Magazine! This little wedding couple I made have found their way to page 48 if you'd like to check it out. TIM!!! Thanks heaps to everyone who entered the giveaway, all the comments were awesome and super entertaining! I wish I had Hermans to give to all of you! I've been inspired to have a giveaway, it seems it's the time of year for them and I've been entering a bunch so why not give a little back! Now I'd like to introduce Herman the little Turtle who is the object of this giveaway. He's a frightfully friendly character who's planning on conquering the world! Or at least that's what he tells people (I think it's meant to be a joke about his small stature). He enjoys being a passenger on other people's bicycles and making paper robots. For your chance to win Herman, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post answering the following question: what is your favourite thing about turtles? It will be drawn on Wednesday 23rd Dec at midday. I'll send him anywhere in the world. Good luck! Last night a bunch of friends and I went and saw the amazing Swedish band Little Dragon! It was even more awesome than I could've ever imagined and we got to meet the band!! It all came about because some of us arrived at the venue early, and it just so happened that EMI were having a party/trivia thing and asked if we would like to join in. We did, and it involved dressing one person on your team up as a Christmas tree. I volunteered to be the Christmas tree and we won! We were given all kinds of goodies and invited to meet the band. Below is the photographic evidence. Here is an appropriately awkward photo of Yukimi, the super lovely lead singer of Little dragon and myself. For those of you who aren't familiar with their music I thought I'd include a few of their songs which also happen to have lovely videos! Mariko the Raccoon is joining the Herbert & Friends gang! I recently had a custom order to make a raccoon which I was really happy with so now the raccoon is joining the posse. Mariko the Raccoon is for sale in my shop! Mariko is quite the tomboy and she also has a bit of a temper. She tries to keep her temper at bay by channelling it through her newest favourite hobby, fencing! She's come to realise she has quite a talent for the sport and wouldn't mind trying out for the Olympic team sometime soon, but she refuses to wear the white suit, mostly because she can't find one that fits her and frankly she doesn't see the point of them! Last Saturday was my last market for the year! It feels a little weird and unstructured not having such a defied deadline to work towards. I've been really looking forward to having more time to develop new ideas and make some more big projects, but now that I'm actually here I feel a little lost. Having said that, I still have a bunch of custom orders to get finished which is keeping me busy and I haven't started Christmas shopping/making so I'm not exactly at a loose end! I'm also looking forward to relaxing and spending some time at the beach this summer. Earlier this month I bought some new swimmer from the lovely ladies of Sirens Swimwear who were at the Finders Keepers Market. I haven't been so excited about swimmers since I was a kid! They're totally awesome, 1950's and 60's inspired cossies, below are a couple of their photos. As I was blog browsing yesterday, I came across another great beach accessory on the Design Files. It's this super awesome beach umbrella by Basil Bangs! I'm not much of a summer person usually, winter is more my thing, but I feel like totally embracing it this year (as long as it doesn't get unbearably hot)! I've been working on another shop update, which is just about done, there are just a few little critters to go. I'll be sending all orders with express post to make sure it arrives safely and in time for Christmas. Here are a few of the creatures eagerly anticipating their new homes. I really love it when people send me photos of creatures they've adopted in their new environment. These photos below were particularly awesome so I thought I'd share them with you. Juliet who sent the photos to me is opening a new shop in Katoomba on the 11th December and they will be stocking these little critters and more! The shop is called Sherman + Betty and the address is Shop 9, Town Centre Arcade, 81-83 Katoomba St, Katoomba. Check it out! |
