Herbert and Friends - Handmade Softies by Torunn

The best way to describe the PYD market would be to say it was a very pleasant experience. There were a lot of really lovely people that stopped to have a chat and read all the character's stories. There were several people that had bought a creature previously and told me how they were getting on, which is always really great to hear about! The other stall holders were great and friendly as always.

One stall in particular was a stand-out for me, it was a jewellery stall that had the most beautiful things and the best display I've seen for a very long time! They had a backyard/picnic theme with a hills-hoist in the middle of the table with brooches and earrings hanging from it, a white picket fence at the back, a picnic set-up to the side and rings in little pots and earrings in wheelbarrows.  The maker of this wonderful stall is called Little Lari and she's based in Hobart. I only had my iphone to take photos on the day so the close up product photos didn't turn out so well, so here are some by Little Lari herself. I really love her combinations of silver and colourful thread!

I'm always on the lookout for yeti fabric, for some reason it's really hard to find, probably because I'm so picky. The other day I was passing through Surry Hill and decided to stop by The Frbric Store and found an off-cut of a lovely white wool fabric which was just about perfect. This time around I decided the yetis should have antlers, it's a bit of an experiment but I'm pretty happy with it. There are only two yetis for the time being as now I'm all out of yeti hair fabric! If you'd like to get to know these two a little better they'll be coming to the PYD Design Market with me.

This weekend I'll be at the PYD Design Market which is on both Saturday and Sunday. It's in Waterloo, so just round the corner from me which is perfect! It looks like it'll be a great weekend with DJs, BBQ and bar as well as awesome stalls. Hope to see you there!

I've spent the last week mostly working on custom orders, there's one in particular I thought I'd share, Ragga MC! This is a character from a children's book that a friend of mine wrote. He's a very charismatic creature! 

While I was in Brisbane I sold out of quite a bit of stock including red pandas, wombats and badgers. Bit by bit I'm starting to re-fill my online shop, so here are the new additions for today. From top to bottom we have Ellinora, Finn and Charles, to find out more about them visit my shop!

I'm back and recovering from another big interstate market. It's been at least 10 years since I was last in Brisbane so didn't really know what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised! I met some really super lovely stall holders, market goers and some of the general population of Brisbane. The market itself was held in this stunning old museum which was the perfect location for the Finders Keepers Market.

And I also really liked all the headbands available. I'm not big on head-wear myself but I really liked these two stalls, so much so I think they've converted me. The intricate design on the left is by Cory Child and the playful bow on the right is by Miss Dish.

It was a great weekend all round!

I'm off to Brisbane this morning for my first ever Brisbane Finders Keepers. Fingers crossed I have more luck with flights this time, hopefully with no delays at all!
