New fabric arrived in the mail today! I'd forgotten how exciting it can be to play with new fabrics. My stock was lacking in reds and oranges so I took the plunge and ordered some nice bright colours. This week has been all about production for the upcoming busy month of October. I've never had two market stalls on the same day in different locations before so I'm a little freaked out about the amount of stock I'll need. Here's some of the owl production process. I also have badgers on the way, wombats and Herbert brooches. 1 Comment On Sunday evenings I get together with a group of friends and we watch the amazing and hilarious vampire series True Blood. Last week was the season final which also coincided with a friend's birthday so we decided to make it a themed food night. We started off with some bloody marys, followed by beetroot soup, vampire bitten cup cakes and chocolate panna cotta with berry coulis. Here are some photos of the blood-related culinary delights. Over the last week I've been working on this little band of talented musicians who are off to the Plush You! show in Seattle!! From left to right we have Sammi the Sloth on panpipes and Willem the Turtle on banjo. In case anyone is going to be in Seattle, the opening night is Friday 8th October. I wish I could go and check it out but I'll be in Melbourne that weekend which isn't too bad either. In other super exciting news, I finally bought a new fancy camera! I found out earlier this week that Herbert & Friends will be taking part in the first ever Melbourne Finders Keepers market! It's been at least five years since I visited Melbourne so I'm really looking forward to exploring the city with all its cool and creative arty craftiness. I thought I'd include a random photo of a Melbourne tram for effect. The weekend before Melbourne I'll be in Newcastle of the This is Not Art festival and will be having a stall at the zine (and other art and craft goodness) fair on Sunday 3rd October. It's going to be a super busy and fun month! In the meantime I've been busy working hard at my business course, only one week to go!!! I handed in my business plan today which is a relief and very stressful at the same time. Now I have a couple of days to get ready for Eveleigh Artisans' Market which is this Sunday. I've made some new sloths and there are some turtles on the way that should be ready by Sunday. I hope everyone's enjoying the first day of spring! Here are some spring inspired photos I took a little while ago. |
