Snow holiday 25/06/2009
Tomorrow I'm heading off to the wonderful snowy mountains for a little snowboarding holiday. I'm going with my partner Toby and four of our friends, I can't wait! Yesterday I came down with a horrible throaty flu thing which I'm hoping will clear soon, until then I have trusty cold and flu tablets to keep me going. I hope everyone has a great week and I'll be back next Thursday. Here is a photo from one of the snow cams where we're heading to. It looks a little gloomy but I have high hopes. I'll have some better photos to share with you when I get back! 1 Comment Beartato 22/06/2009
I'd like you to meet Beartato from web comic nedroid, made by my boyfriend Toby. He reads the comic religiously and was inspired to make his own Beartato to have around the house. He is a very talented stitcher but doesn't make things very often. This is his masterpiece! For Toby's birthday last year two of his friends, Michelle and Cam, created this amazing Beartato birthday cake. It was truly excellent and tasted as good as it looked! Shelvebot 22/06/2009
Shelvebot is a custom order that I made for a friend. Her boyfriend created Shelvebot together with a colleague. They work at a bookshop so the robot was created to shelve books, which resulted in a zine called The Adventrues of Shelvebot. It was his birthday last week so my friend asked me to make Shelvebot so here he is. He is a great character and it was heaps of fun making him! The stylish Anteater 18/06/2009
Last night as I was browsing through Etsy, I came across this awesome shop called lukaluka. There I found this fantastic print of an anteater. I just couldn't resist buying it, so it's on its way to Australia! I'm so excited to see it as an actual print and find the perfect place for it in our little home. This is my first purchase from Etsy and I have a feeling there will be many more. eight sparrows 18/06/2009
A friend of mine recently asked me to photograph the things she makes. I wanted to share a couple of photos with you because she makes the most beautiful and interesting journals and really fun and quirky cards. Her company is called eight sparrows and you can check out her website here. Tweedledum and Tweedledee 15/06/2009
I've finally finished these two custom order owls. I'm very pleased with how they've turned out and tomorrow they'll be off to their new home. Now that these are done my plan is to make a few more frogs like Klein. He is a very popular fellow but I can't part with him so I'll just have to make some more. They'll be coming soon! Apart from doing a bit of stitching and cleaning over the weekend I played lots of netball yesterday. I love playing netball and I'm part of two team, one plays on Tuesday nights and the other on Thursdays. Yesterday we combined the teams and played in a netball carnival which was heaps of fun, well at least until it started raining and it was called off. We still managed to play four games. One day I might post some photos of my team in action. My little gothic owl 11/06/2009
I've been a bit slack with posting the latest photos from Manly markets. We had a great day there. Manly food and wine festival was on as well as the young designers market so it was a busy day down at the beach. Here is a photo of our stall There was a stall near us selling the most amazing looking soap, they were all shaped as slices of cake and lollies. My favourites were the liquorice allsorts pictured below. They even smell like liquorice! These are made by A Slice of Soap. I also wanted to share with you one of my new owls who I consider to be a bit of a goth. He's all black and white and shades of grey. A very bubbly goth teenager spotted him at the markets and decided his name is Dave, so here is Dave the little gothic owl. Building a parliament of owls 04/06/2009
It has been confirmed that Diana and I will be at Manly markets this Saturday the 6th! We sold a whole bunch of creatures last week so I've been frantically trying to make more for this weekend. The owls were the most popular so my week has consisted of sewing owls in all shapes, sizes and colours. Here is a photo of some of them in the process of being made. Here are some of the finished ones eagerly getting ready to find new homes. Now I have to get back to finishing the rest. The market will be open between 10 and 5 if you would like to come down. Beautiful Bondi 01/06/2009
The markets went amazingly well on Sunday. It turned out to be a beautiful day with a couple of showers but nothing too dramatic. Diana and I had a great time chatting to people and getting feedback on our work. Thank you to everyone who came and made it a fantastic day! I have some more custom orders that I need to get on top of and it looks like we will be heading to Manly markets this Saturday, I'll keep you posted about whether that goes ahead. Here are some photos of our stall. Here is a photo of Toby and Herbert. At the last market several people wondered who Herbert was, so this time he came along to meet the public. He was the star of the show and there were plenty of people that wanted to take him home. It was hard to explain to everyone that he was in fact not for sale. | upcoming marketsarchivesJanuary 2012 crafty friends
