Tomorrow Diana and I are having a market stall at Bondi markets. I've been very slow to post about it, but if anyone is looking for something to do tomorrow we'll be there from 10am to 4pm. It'll be a fun day!
Add Comment I've been working on a collection of snails and I just finished a couple of them. Here they are in all their snail glory. I was recently given this sewing machine by Toby's (my boyfriend) grandma who no longer has a need for one. I was very excited to finally have a sewing machine but daunted by the thought of learning how to use it and having to read an instruction manual which I have a great aversion to. I haven't used a sewing machine since about year 9 at high school. A couple of days ago I took the plunge and learnt how to use it and as it turns out it's quite easy to use. I'm still struggling with sewing curves and doing little fiddly details but I think I'm improving at a fairly good rate. The sewing machine is a truly great invention! Here are a couple of photos of my work space. Toby and I live in a one bedroom apartment so the living room/dining room also transforms into my studio. Unfortunately this means the mess (my work in progress) hardly ever gets cleaned up, except for when we have friends over. Toby has never complained about my sprawling mess which I'm incredibly grateful for. Here are some new forest sprite friends that I've been working on. I just wanted to share these with you, now I have to run off and pick up my nephew from school. I hope everyone is having a great week so far! I'd like to introduce you to Meru the giraffe (soon to be brooch). Meru came into being about an hour ago and has taken up most of my day. He is 10 cm tall and 4 cm wide so as you can imagine the sewing was incredibly intricate. I think he turned out really well in the end although he's missing a tail which I completely forgot about. I will add that on very soon, along with the brooch clasp and then he's all done. Once that's finished I'll start working on custom order number two, the rabbit. I'm finding the rabbit consiberably harder to sketch, so it might be a little while. On Sunday night my computer stopped working, it simply won't turn on! It's incredibly frustrating when technology stops working and you don't have a clue why. I also feel lost without being able to access my email and photos and everything. Unfortunately I don't have any new creatures to reveal to you yet, but as soon as my computer is back up and running I should have something. |
